Japan 2011 Trip Report – Favorite Signs of Japan

A small but entertaining facet of our trip to Japan was the many signs used to instruct behavior and give warnings. They are impressively graphically-expressive, possibly to make sure even travelers with no concept of the language can understand their point.

Be careful of people biking or you might get smacked in the butt.

A very good argument for why you shouldn’t rush the doors on the train.

The best part: the people shocked by these jerks who are taking up two seats a piece.

For those who don’t understand how smoking in a public place affects people other than themselves.

Thankfully, no rocks fell on our heads here.

The many possible hazards of the Nara park deer.

Makes much more sense when you know it appears on the train platform. (Assumed approximate translation: “If something of yours falls on the tracks, get a staff person to help you.”) We never got to see that very cool grabby contraption used, sadly.
