Love sweet stuff? Love books? YA author Christine Johnson has combined both to create the Great YA Bake Sale of 2010! And I’m very pleased to be participating.

Guess what, Spanish, German, and Brazilian readers: You’re going to be able to pick up THE WAY WE FALL, its sequel, and my third book with Hyperion in your own language!

I am super pleased (and super thankful for my most awesome agent and his awesome associates who’ve been working on the books’ behalf overseas) to announce that all three books have sold in Spain to Roca Editorial, in Brazil to Intrinseca, and in Germany to Fischer Schatzinsel. And if you prefer to listen to your books rather than read them, there’ll be a North American audio version of all three from Recorded Books!

Foreign editions and audio books are brand new to me, so I can’t wait to discover all that goes along with them (alternate covers! voice actors!) and to share it all with you.

I’ve seen this popping up all over my Friends list lately. “I write like Stephen King.” “I write like James Joyce.” etc. If you participated, you might want to consider taking down the post. Why? You’re providing advertising for a vanity press.

Also, it sounds like the results are pretty random anyway.

This Thursday, July 15, I’ll be doing a presentation about writing, publishing, and GIVE UP THE GHOST at the St. Catharines Public Library, Central Branch, starting at 7pm. The program is free and open to readers aged 12 to 18.

Megan Crewe’s THE WAY WE FALL, in which a 16-year-old challenges her fears, finds a second chance at love, and fights to keep her family and friends safe as a deadly new virus devastates her island community, to Catherine Onder at Disney-Hyperion, in a significant deal, at auction, in a three-book deal, for publication in Winter 2012, by Josh Adams at Adams Literary (NA).

I am sooo excited to be working with Catherine and Hyperion, and to know I’m going to get to share three more books with you! THE WAY WE FALL (which, BTW, is the project I talked about here) has been consuming my brain for quite a while now. I hope you’ll love it as much as I do.

(For the curious, the second of the three books will be a sequel to THE WAY WE FALL and the third is yet to be decided.)

I’d say more, but a large part of my mind has been doing little more than going EEEEEEEEEEEE! since the deal was finalized on Wednesday, which makes coherency a little difficult. So I’ll just invite you all to happy dance with me!

I just found out that GIVE UP THE GHOST has been nominated for the Sunburst Award! (Scroll down for the YA list.)

The Sunburst is a Canadian award for speculative fiction, and I’m very excited to see GHOST in such great company. Cross your fingers for me!
