Was this intentional for the storyline (ie, her gift helped her personal life) or did it just happen that way?<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Putting a lot of focus on Cass&#8217;s family and friend issues, rather than making it mostly about her supernatural ability, was definitely intentional.  While I love stories with fantastical and paranormal elements, what I love most about them is how they can intensify the sort of everyday situations real people find themselves in and let us look at those situations from different perspectives.  I think that &#8220;real&#8221; stuff is what readers end up relating to in the end, no matter how exciting the rest is.  It&#8217;s certainly what I relate to when I&#8217;m writing!
