The making of a killer virus

The symptoms of the disease that threatens my characters in The Way We Fall are listed right on the book jacket description:

It starts with an itch you just can’t shake. Then comes a fever and a tickle in your throat. A few days later, you’ll be blabbing your secrets and chatting with strangers like they’re old friends. Three more, and the paranoid hallucinations kick in.

And then you’re dead.

So how did I come up with that series of symptoms? Why did I decide to make my virus work the way it does? If you’re interested in the answers to those questions, and in finding out more background on the virus that I was able to share in the actual book, check out my guest post today at The Intergalactic Academy:

Creating a Killer Virus

And if you have any further questions, or other thoughts, I’ll be responding to comments both here and there. 🙂
