Interview, and a chance to win GHOST!

Friday, September 3rd, 2010

Amber over at Down the Rabbit Hole has just posted her interview with me, where you can find out juicy details like which scene was hardest for me to write, and what character got cut from the final version of the book. And she’s also giving away a copy of GIVE UP THE GHOST!

All you’ve got to do for a chance to win is head over there and comment. :)

Good luck!

A writer reading

Tuesday, August 24th, 2010

Ever wonder what a writer’s bookshelves might look like? You can see mine in all their overflowing glory over at this interview for The Readings of a Busy Mom. My kids/YA bookcase (stacked two deep, with whiteboard for jotting WIP notes and maps), for example:

The glass shelves may not look so pretty, but they’re perfect for placing around windows because they don’t block the light. :)

In the interview, I also talk about where I read and why, and a few for my all time favorite books.

And that’s what I’ll leave you with today, because it’s retreat time!

I am home…

…and alive, and very tired. Will be catching up on comments and e-mails over the weekend, and posting about the last part of the Nova Scotia trip on Monday.

And then I will be taking off again!

Good night!

Moved in!

Just a quick note to let you know that we are moved in, working on unpacking, and hopefully will never have to pay rent again! :D I am catching up on my e-mails as quickly as I can.

Recs for science fiction fans

Thursday, November 19th, 2009

As promised, here are my suggestions for readers wanting to try out more YA science fiction! I haven’t included adult SF novels that now get categorized sometimes as YA because I figure most SF fans will already have read those.

My YA Science Fiction Reading Guide

And here’s my YA Fantasy Guide, if you missed it. :)

As before, feel free to share your own recs!

For the book bloggers

Saturday, August 8th, 2009

I know at least a few of you have asked to receive a review copy of GIVE UP THE GHOST and didn’t receive one. As I’ve mentioned, the publisher only has so many to give up. I only wish I could get one to all of you.

But wait! Maybe I can. I’ve entered GHOST in the One ARC Tours (I’ll actually be giving more than one ARC to be handed around), and anyone from the US can sign up! (Sorry international folks, if I find another way for you I’ll let you know.) The full rules are here; basically you just have to be willing to read it quickly after you get it and then mail it on. And there are lots of other great books on tour there, too! So check it out. :)

For the book bloggers: ARCs, interviews, etc.

Monday, June 15th, 2009

I’ve been getting e-mails from many awesome book bloggers for a few months now, so I figured it might be helpful to make a post just for you. (If you are not a book blogger, feel free to skip this!)

If you are excited about my book, well, I am super excited about you being excited, so it works out well for both of us. ;) Here are some ways you can potentially get involved in GIVE UP THE GHOST’s release:

1. Reviews. Now that the book is out, review copies are no longer available. Sorry!

2. Interviews and guest blogs. Want me to come by your blog to answer a few questions or talk about a particular topic? I’ve love to! All you’ve got to do is e-mail me and ask.

3. Contests. I’ve heard from a few people interested in hosting a GHOST related contest. Wonderful! I’m in the process of putting together some fun swag packs that I’d be happy to donate. If you’ve got a really great idea for one, let me know and I may be able to throw in a signed copy of the book as well.

4. Bookmarks. I am currently offering GHOST bookmarks to reviewers, bloggers, and other bookish folks. Just got a new order, so there’s lots to go around!

And if you’re wondering about anything I haven’t mentioned here, just get in touch. I don’t bite, promise! You love books–I already like you. :D
