The first The Way We Fall sequel post

A few readers have been wondering whether The Way We Fall will have a sequel. Indeed it will! In fact, it will have two — it’s the first in a trilogy. (I didn’t actually intend to write a trilogy; it just sort of happened, as I explain here.)

Book 2 is written and edited and with the copyeditor right now. I was just working on the jacket flap copy (i.e., the book description) with my editor yesterday. Now, I’m not going to share that with you yet, because it gives away far too much about the first book. But I can now officially reveal the title!

The second book in the (not-yet-named) trilogy will be called…

The Lives We Lost

(I also know the title to Book 3, but it hasn’t been confirmed yet and probably won’t be until around this time next year. So all I can say is it follows the same pattern of The [noun] We [Verb].)

A few non-spoilery facts about The Lives We Lost:

-It begins with one last brief journal entry, and the rest of the book is in regular first person, from Kaelyn’s point of view.

-The reason it isn’t in journal format is that this book has quite a bit more action than TWWF, and I felt the format wouldn’t work believably with the story.

-The character Kaelyn sees at the end of TWWF plays a major role in this book.

-You will get to see what’s happening outside the island.

I’m so looking forward to getting to share more of Kaelyn’s story with you!

  1. AHHHHH I’M SO EXCITED FOR The Lives We Lost. (Also, I ADORE your titles.) I really really adored the journal format, but it’ll be nice to see Kaelyn’s first-person POV. Also, OMG LEO. What’s going to happen with him? I’m nervous he’s going to come between Kaelyn and Gav. But he can’t, right? Because he has Tessa? And now I’m worried for Kae and Gav. Since their romantic plotline was already reasonably developed in TWWF… are you going to make them have a falling-out? *bites nails nervously* And Drew! Does he come back?

Aggggh. I think I’m going to make myself go crazy. I should probably get myself off your blog, Ms. Crewe. Sorry. I’ll be quiet now. 😀

    • Hee hee, no need to apologize! Your enthusiasm makes me very happy. 🙂

I can tell you that Leo’s return does make the dynamics in the group a little more complicated, but I wanted to avoid the typical “do I want to be with him? or with him?” waffling seen in many books. Kaelyn has more important things to do than bounce back and forth between boys. As for Drew, the most I will say is that you do find out what happened to him after he left the island. Don’t want to give too much away!

  2. I’m sooo happy to see that there will be a sequel to TWWF!

I just finished reading TWWF and although I first thought the journal-style would ruin the book for me – I’m really no fan of books written that style, they just normally don’t work for me – it turned out I seriously liked the way the style underlined Kaelyn’s experiences.
The ending kind of TWWF is seriously mean and I was all like “WTF it can’t just be over” but now I know that there will be a sequel I’m really happy again ^^ And I’m even happier now that I know there will be no silly lovetriangle and I’m so excited to see how the changed style will work out for me and of course to learn what happend outside the island and what will happen on the island now that Leo’s back 😀
So, yeah, now I’m crazy all over TWWF and TLWL and I’ll now leave this blog because if I stay here any longer I’ll get seriously depressed because I’ll have to wait sooo long until I get to read TLWL 🙁
Think I’ll go write a review to TWWF now ^^ If I get the synopsis translated into German (I’m not all that sure if I’m able to do that at the moment though)
And now I’ll stop rambling and simply say thank you, Ms. Crewe, for writing such an awesome book that had me reading for hours without even noticing that in the meantime it started snowing for the first time this winter (and driving my girlfriend completely insane by ignoring and only occasionally shushing her when she wouldn’t stop trying to talk to me).
    So, thank you very much!

    • I’m so glad you enjoyed TWWF so much! 🙂 There’s actually a German edition in the works, but I’m not sure when it will be published (some time this year, I would guess). Wish I could get the sequel to you all sooner!

      • Well, if there’s a German edition in the making that will be released in the meantime, I’ll simply try to get my hands on an ARC of it and read the whole story again 😀 Then I’ll not have to wait as long til I get to read about Kaelyn and Co. again 🙂 Luckily Fischer is one of the publishers who give away ARCs to bloggers, so I’ll simply hope that they’ll publish the book before TLWL is going to be released 😉

  4. I absolutely loved The Way We Fall, and I can’t wait for the sequel! It was amazing. Most stunning, it was the first book ever that I bought and that my mum read. My 40 something strictly Australiana fiction mother loved this book and couldn’t put it down and I was so proud of having a book worthy enough that we could share it 🙂

    • Didn’t mean that it was the first book I bought… I never stop buying books. Ooopsies, time to work on my grammar.. and proofreading.

    • I’m so glad you enjoyed TWWF, and that you were able to share it with your mom! 🙂 I know it was awesome when my mom started getting into YA and we could discuss the same books.

  6. Oh my gosh. I just finished TWWF, and as soon as I was done I was confused and I couldn’t form complete words, because I was so worried about Meredith, but then I calmed down and asked myself, is there a sequel? so I looked it up and I am so excited to read it!!!
