The Great YA Bake Sale of 2010!

Love sweet stuff? Love books? YA author Christine Johnson has combined both to create the Great YA Bake Sale of 2010! And I’m very pleased to be participating. πŸ™‚

Here’s the deal:

To enter, simply leave a thoughtful comment on this post or another participating author’s Bake Sale blog post, or tweet about the contest with the hashtag #YABakeSale10. Voila! You’re entered.

When you enter, you become eligible to win any one of the Personal Prize Packs (i.e. a comment on my blog may net you the Cyn Balog prize pack. You’re entering the whole contest, not just that particular author’s part of it.) You also become eligible to win the humongonormous Grand Prize Basket.

What’s in the Grand Prize Basket?

Each author has hand-written two copies of a favorite sweet-treat recipe. One copy has gone into a beautiful recipe book that is part of the Grand Prize Basket. In addition to the (hand-written! Did I mention that?) recipe collection, the Grand Prize winner will receive:

A signed copy of Cyn Balog’s SLEEPLESS
Bookmarks for KAT, INCORRIGIBLE by Stephanie Burgis
A signed copy of GIVE UP THE GHOST by Megan Crewe
Signed bookmarks for THE CRESCENT and HALF MOON, pencils, and a crescent moon and crystal-studded star necklace from Jordan Deen
A signed copy of 13 TO LIFE, a chap book of the prologue and first chapter of SECRETS AND SHADOWS from Shannon Delaney
A copy of THE BODY FINDER, a THE BODY FINDER tote bag, sticker and bookmarks from Kimberley Derting
An EVERLASTING-themed notebook, bookmark and pin from Angela Frazier
A signed copy of CLAIRE DE LUNE, signed stickers and a silver, moon-themed bookmark from Christine Johnson
A signed copy of SHADOWED SUMMER, matching chocolate candies, Twilight-themed heart candies, bookmarks and THE VESPERTINE dance card from Saundra Mitchell
A signed copy of THE PACE, by Shelena Shorts, along with bookmarks and THE PACE pencils
A signed hard-cover of SHADE and a Keeley Brothers pin from Jeri-Smith Ready
A signed copy of PERSONAL DEMONS, a PERSONAL DEMONS tank top, temporary tattoos, and bookmarks from Lisa Desrochers
. . . AND MORE!!! All for ONE LUCKY WINNER!

But that’s not all!

Each author has one other handwritten recipe that will be part of each author’s own Personal Prize Pack.

The prize packs include:

Cyn Balog – Signed copy of SLEEPLESS and a handwritten recipe for Coconut Bread.
Stephanie Burgis – UK paperback copy of A MOST IMPROPER MAGICK and a hand written recipe for Apple Muffins
Kay Cassidy – Hand-written recipe and giveaways
Megan Crewe – Hand-written recipe and signed copy of GIVE UP THE GHOST

  1. This is such a great contest. I’d love to be entered!

What recipe did you put in, if you don’t mind me asking? The butter rum cupcakes with coconut buttercream frosting sound so delicious I can almost taste them but then again, so does everything. Dead Lady Fingers sound interesting too… Perfect recipe for the upcoming Halloween!

I’m going to put a link to this post on my blog! Thanks for sharing.

  2. This sounds great! I’ve been looking for some new recipes, too. I’m new to the world of baking, but have so far been successful with brownies and peanut butter cookies and the like. Collecting recipes is a new hobby of mine. :]

  3. This is the first contest combining baked goods and YA books I’ve come across! (And a great idea too…I have a bit of a sweet tooth as evidenced by my e-mail address, and devour books and desserts with equal pleasure).

  4. This is an awesome contest because it involves my two favorite things baking and reading (eventhough im not so great at the former)!

  5. This is so great. and i get to hear about authors and books i didnt know about before(like this one) so im excited to expand my horizons and get some treats that will even help with my own Book Cafe blog πŸ™‚
    count me in πŸ™‚
(ps idk if mail means address or email… so i put email..)

  6. Yes! This giveaway combines two of my favorite things: yummy food and books! Can I just say that the coconut bread sounds amazing? I’m so excited for this giveaway and all the great prizes. Thanks so much!

  7. So I’m fasting and I got stuck on the pictures of food for a while. Imagining the way it would taste, the tartness of the strawberries and the decadence of the brownies. And now, 7:47 (the time we break fast) seems a long way off. Anyway, I’d like to enter the giveaway. I actually would love to win it too but entering is fine for now. Thanks for coming up with this.

  8. What a unique idea for a contest. I’d love to win. Too bad there can’t be more winners. Like break up the prizes? Whoever wins will be so lucky.

  9. This is a really unique contest. Love the concept, though I can’t decide if the baked goods or the books sound more appealing… though I suppose if I’m baking, the books are more appealing.

The choclate cake looks even better though! this contest is an amazing way to show that everyone has a reading comfort sweet! Even if we know well regret it later later, the sweets are worth it.

  11. Reading these posts is making me sooooo hungry! haha I just did thre weeks of nutrisystem, so I’m almost drooling πŸ˜‰ I was so happy to see you were in this contest, I read “Giving up the Ghost” and really enjoyed it, and now more people might learn of it’s awesomeness as they satistfy their sweet tooth! πŸ™‚

  12. Thanks for participating in this amazing giveaway! “Giving up the Ghost” is now on my wishlist.

  13. Wow, I think this contest is one of the most fun I’ve ever seen in the blogosphere!! My mouth is already watering thinking about soft chocolate chip cookies (and all the books!). I loved Giving up the Ghost, and can’t wait for The Way We Fall! Thanks for doing this, and my fingers are crossed that I win πŸ™‚

  14. Interesting, thank you so much! I spent my childhood in Yorkshire in the UK, and I’ve been trying to find a recipe for this delicious pie I remember eating all the time, but can’t remember what we called it!!! Do you know any famous pie recipes from Yorkshire?
